Yes! You’ll walk away from the camp with a video game that you created with your team, which you can add to your portfolio! Games will be conceptualized by teams and guided to completion with the help of our instructors and pre-built game assets. You’ll learn about the full life cycle of video game development—from conception to launch—then see your game come to life. Finished projects are presented at our closing dinner party so that everyone can share and celebrate!
The University of Washington and University of Southern California dorms are fully equipped with Wi-Fi and laundry facilities, drinks, and snacks, in addition to the program's exclusive Lounge which is stocked with TV’s, PS4’s, and Wii U’s. You’ll have a roommate, but don’t worry—you and your roommate are matched based on compatibility. If you have a roommate request, please be sure to note that on your application or send us an email to let us know. The dorms host two students per room and trained chaperones will live with you on the same floor.
Yes, you’ll need to bring a laptop for classwork. It must meet the minimum system requirements to run Unity, which can be found here. If you need to rent a laptop for camp, please send us an email. The laptop rental fee is $75.
Throughout the camp, you’ll be working with the Unity game engine. You’ll need a laptop that can run Unity in order to complete the Game Experience coursework. The minimum system requirements can be found here. Feel free to download and test out Unity Personal, which is free for students.
