WHAT COLLEGES SEEK

Selective schools want good people. If you bring joy to those around you, have a disciplined work ethic, are passionate about what you do and have a curiosity for learning, you’re on the right path.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE IN COLLEGE

At Princeton University, I studied sociology and took coursework in African American studies and environmental studies. In my freshman year, I founded a book club to compliment job skills training for men who had been involved in the criminal justice system. I also danced in and choreographed for a student dance company.

Professionally, I have experience in arts administration, civic leadership, and writing and research consulting. I am interested in social justice, financial equity, and organizational development.

UNIQUE HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCES

Beyond academics, choral music and dance were a big part of my life growing up. I had some phenomenal teachers who inspired me to reach for the stars, especially in the arts. Their support led me to a few defining experiences. In the summer between my sophomore and junior year, I was selected to attend a competitive summer program, where I focused on dance and made lifelong friends. In my senior year, I won the Six-Year All-State women’s chorus award for an essay on the impact of music on students’ lives. Fortunately, I got to use my passions for dance and singing as a dance captain for my school’s choral program. This meant I choreographed pieces and rehearsed my classmates for variety show performances. We had fun!
