AREAS OF EXPERTISE IN COLLEGE
In Princeton, I studied in smaller departments where I got to pursue my passion with a lot of support from professors. Within cultural anthropology, I found a discipline where I could channel my curiosities and questions into research. I studied abroad in Tanzania, Ireland and India. In India, I took a Buddhist Studies program, and stayed on to complete anthropology fieldwork for my senior thesis, “Living and Learning in a Tibetan Buddhist Nunnery.”
I’ve had a coaching business for the past four years, helping LGBT people increase their confidence and sense of embodiment.

UNIQUE HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCES
I’m American, but grew up in Japan and Brazil, where I attended international schools. In Brazil I worked towards the International Baccalaureate diploma, and when I moved back to Japan I did A.P. classes, so I’m familiar with both systems. A passionate, caring student, I had a robust extracurricular life. The school I attended in Rio de Janeiro didn’t have a service club, so I founded one, organizing a Habitat for Humanity trip and a Walk Against Cancer. When I moved back to Japan I felt super grateful for the Gay Straight Alliance, which supported me in accepting my sexual orientation.
